Course Description

Our ESP courses combine General English lessons, focusing on language proficiency in all areas with ESP lessons, designed to develop specific language and professional communication skills, helping students to further their career in positions in which English is used as the international language of communication.


Our most popular ESP course is English for Business.


ESP courses are carefully tailored to meet the individual or group’s needs, following a detailed Needs Analysis and consultation.


13 lessons x 75 minutes per week Monday - Friday


Morning and afternoon classes – 16.25 hours in total


General English 7 x 75 minutes per week
Computer Labs 2 x 75 minutes per week
ESP 4 x 75 minutes per week


In General English classes, our tutors will help you progress in all language areas with a focus on spoken and written production. Our syllabus is mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference, combining communicative classroom-based lessons and modern technology.


In Computer Lab classes, we use up-to-date computer software to provide further language and exam practice so that you can study at your own pace, focusing on individual learning goals, identified in an initial Needs Analysis and ongoing tutorials.


Our tailor-made ESP course comprises of a student-centred, communicative approach. You will be expected to engage in classroom activities, including debates, information gap activities, discussions, role plays, simulations, etc. around topics presented in the course materials and discovered through independent and group research.


This course can be offered to students at Intermediate level (CEFR B1) through to Upper Advanced level (CEFR C2).


Average class size 10-12 (maximum 15 students, minimum 1 student).


Minimum age 18.

Course Progression

At Intermediate level and above (CEFB1-C2) students can progress onto an International Foundation Year Programme, a higher level General English Course or one of our many Business or IT programmes at MIC.

Entry Requirements International students outside the EU/EAA require CEFR Level B1 in English (this is the equivalent of IELTS 4.5).
Visa Advice International students from outside the EU/EAA will need either a Student Visitor visa or Tier 4 (General) student visa.
Additional Costs

All Course Materials are included in the course fees. However, students will be expected to provide stationery and files for their personal use.


Students will need to pay exam fees for all other external examinations.

Students will be expected to pay reasonable costs to take part in some social activities to cover the cost of entrance fees and transportation.


Manchester Airport Pick-Up Service: £50 one way or £100 return.


Registration Fee: £50 for Overseas Non-EU nationals, £30 for Overseas EU nationals and £20 for 'Local' students.


Express Courier Delivery Charge: £20.
