Whether you choose a General English Course, Exam Course, ESP Course or follow an International Foundation Year Programme, we are confident that you will enjoy your time here and progress quickly.

In the EFL Department, our friendly, qualified tutors are happy to discuss individual progress with you through regular tutorials. Students are also welcome to come and see the Director of Studies in the EFL Office at any time to discuss their course or just to say ‘Hello’.

We use communicative methodology and blended learning, combining classroom-based lessons and modern technology to provide varied and engaging courses, maximising student progress in all language areas and leading to exam success. Up-to-date computer software is used effectively to provide further language practice.

Option Classes allow students to focus on areas of interest or improvement and ESP Courses are designed to develop specific language and professional communication skills.

Our University Foundation Courses combine General English lessons with lectures, seminars and practical workshops in 5 different disciplines, providing excellent training for future studies. We have guaranteed places at university for students who successfully complete the programme, including universities like Wolverhampton, Salford and Manchester Metropolitan.

In addition to the social programme at MIC, we use authentic material and organise class trips as part of our courses to encourage you to benefit from living in an English-speaking environment.

We wish you every success with your studies!

Catherine Oxley,
Director of Studies, English (EFL)
